Duo Security Simplifies Endpoint Security to Prevent Data Breaches

Adds Visibility and Insight into All End-User Devices to Two-Factor Authentication Platform

Duo Security, a cloud-based access security provider protecting the world’s largest and fastest-growing companies, today announced new features in their two-factor authentication platform that enable visibility and insight into all end-user devices accessing corporate data.

With the rise of cloud, mobile and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), organizations face the added challenge of protecting what they don’t control. Many endpoint devices such as personal PCs, tablets and smartphones are now being used in a corporate environment, posing significant security risks.

Duo Labs recently reported:

  • Sixty percent of Macs and eighty percent of Windows are running outdated operating systems. These outdated systems contain hundreds of vulnerabilities that can be exploited by hackers to steal sensitive business data.
  • Fifty percent of all iPhones in corporate environments are running outdated operating systems.
  • Forty-six percent of corporate PCs are running on outdated browsers and Flash and Java plug-ins, which are the root cause of many data breaches.
  • Seventy-nine percent of organizations are concerned about how users are accessing corporate networks.
  • Eighty-eight percent of enterprises allow employees to use their personal computers in the workplace.

Organizations can now easily protect their networks against these security risks, given visibility and insight into vulnerable endpoints -- without the use of agents.

With Duo Platform’s endpoint security and visibility, IT administrators can significantly reduce the risk of a data breach by detecting all vulnerable devices and informing users that updates are needed.

“My biggest fear isn’t someone who breaches our security from the outside, through the firewall, to pilfer our data," said Joe Johnson, IT Manager at ServerCentral. "What really scares me is someone bringing a personal laptop into the network, which is unpatched or outdated, and which opens our organization up to a security breach. The visibility Duo's offering in Platform is key information I can use to protect against these issues.”

Traditionally, detecting devices with out-of-date software required installing agents or running scans, which are expensive for organizations and cumbersome for IT teams to manage. End users find these programs to be invasive, as they must be installed on their personal phone or laptop.

Duo Platform users now automatically have access to all new features. Pricing for Duo Platform remains at $6 per user per month. Visit duosecurity.com/platform for more information and to start a free trial.

Duo separately announced that it now protects over 50 new applications, including Microsoft Office 365 clients, remote access for Windows 10, and SaaS applications such as Greenhouse and SugarCRM.
